Day One

Just got my Okayama Spirits in the mail today ! Here's my initial review of my first pair of Naked and Famous jeans after first examination and trying them on....Sorry for the bad photos (my 5D Mk III is back in Los Angeles, so an iphone will have to do until next week)

Design: 9.5/10
Fit/Comfort: 9/10
Construction Quality: 8/10
Materials: 9/10
Overall: 9/10

They weren't kidding when they said these jeans were slubby... I can tell these are going to have a very textured fade, especially after a beach wash. Overall, I felt like the design of these jeans were close to the best I've ever had... mainly because the cut was modern. Unlike my Samurais or my Momotaros, these jeans don't make me look awkward.

On the other hand, I felt like there were some problems with the construction quality. There are some loose strands from the selvedge line and in the stitching by the hip. In the long run, this won't really matter... I'm going to be wearing these until they look tattered anyways, but I felt like improvement could be made. Also, the pockets could be bigger and more sturdy... the front pockets are pretty thin and my hand can barely fit in all the way.

BUT DON'T GET ME WRONG! These jeans are a steal at a price point of around $200 with shipping. Definitely would recommend them... Just look at the beautiful slub! check out Tate and Yoko to order yours... they have great service and shipping time. Hurry, because you need to enter the contest by December 31st.

Can't wait to soak up those California rays and show you some fades. On to chain stitching!-

Day Zero

Guess I'll be taking a long break from my Double RL Rigid Slims - Naked and Famous is having a fade contest for their new "Okayama Spirit" jeans. Contest details can be found here! I've never owned a pair of Naked and Famous jeans, but I am very excited to give them a try. I decided to go with the the Slim version in a 31 over at Tate and Yoko

Instead of doing a pre-soak like I normally do with unsanforized jeans, I will be wearing these unwashed straight for 6 months followed by an intense beach wash at Seal Beach (Maybe one of the dirtiest beaches in Southern California)

I'm a huge fan of the idea of denim formulas and solutions, just never had the chance to use them- I'll be using the retaW Denim Spray and the A.P.C. Fine Fabric Care to win this fade contest.

Jeans are coming in this Wednesday - Stay Tuned!
